In the next 20 years, all jobs will require an element of digital skills. In its most basic form, digital is about numbers, it’s code, but it’s also a way of working. We believe that numeracy is the single most important thing that will help us be successful as individuals.
Whether an engineer, a mechanic or a hairdresser, numbers and what you do with them matters. And yes, we need to make sure that young people are proficient as they enter the workplace, but more importantly, now, we need to ensure that we all have the basic skills to be able to do our jobs.
We can’t ignore the fact that currently, as a nation we have an issue that will hamper our ability to not only be digitally literate, but to improve our competitiveness in industry.
